Vape Juice Flavours for ex-smokers

August 22, 2019

Vaping has been seen as a great help for many smokers to quit tobacco. Generally, tobacco smokers tend to begin their vaping experience with tobacco vape juices or menthol tobacco juices. After all, in the first stage, they are trying to mimic or replicate the experience they had with smoking.

As time moves on, ex-smokers tend to change their vape juices for chocolate, dessert, candy, and fruit vape juices and they never returned to tobacco again.

However, it seems that this trend is changing. The reality is that we keep seeing more and more vape beginners who want to quit tobacco choosing different flavors instead of tobacco.

This is a huge turnover in the entire industry and these crucial statistics can allow the industry to put some pressure on the United States government. After all, with more and more people who want to quit smoking turning to other flavors with vaping, these shows a real health benefit. So, with this, the vaping industry is trying to prevent that the movement of banning flavors continues to gain strength across the entire country.

The Harm Reduction Journal recently published a study where researchers were trying to discover the role of the flavors in vapers as well as the impact that the flavors have in people who are trying to quit tobacco. The main reason for this study was the fact that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declared that tobacco products were a public health research priority.

In a recent online survey that included 20,836 adults who are regular e-cigarette users in the United States. They were asked two questions. The first one was related to the first flavor they picked and the second one was about the flavor they now use. Besides this, researchers also tried to take the survey a bit further and they were also trying to see the differences in the choices of the flavors between former smokers, current smokers, and never-smokers, as well as the changes across time in the e-cigarette flavors used.

According to the results of the survey, the first juice purchases that people made clearly changed. While back in 2011, about 18% of people bought fruit-flavored juices, between 2015 and 2016 this percentage increased to almost 34%. On the other hand, in what concerns buying tobacco flavorings for the first time, the percentages were exactly the opposite. Back in 2011, about 46% of people bought tobacco flavoring the first time they ever tried e-cigarettes, while between 2015 and 2016, this percentage dropped to 24%. In what concerns the favorite liquids that most beginners tend to buy, the top includes fruit/fruit beverage, dessert/pastry, and candy, chocolate, and sweets.

In case you're interested in the ranking, we can say that tobacco and menthol flavors are, according to this survey, in the 5th and 6th position respectively, as the most popular flavors to begin vaping.

The survey concluded that "Adult frequent e-cigarette users in the USA who have completely switched from smoking cigarettes to using e-cigarettes are increasingly likely to have initiated e-cigarette use with non-tobacco flavors and to have transitioned from tobacco to non-tobacco flavors over time. Restricting access to non-tobacco e-cigarette flavors may discourage smokers from attempting to switch to e-cigarettes."
