by Sharri Van Zyl

Vape King and Twisp are two vastly different products and mottos.

Vape King is a vaping retail super chain focused on a wide selection of vaping products from various brands, International brands.

Twisp is a South African vape brand of hardware and liquids with Kiosks around the country.

Twisp is great for beginners into the vaping world as most of their devices are focused towards new vapers, Vape King is best suited to the vaper that wants a large selection of vaping products including everything from beginner to enthusiast vaper and a wide selection of both local and international liquids.

As vaping becomes more popular, it is natural that many employers start wondering if they should allow their employees to vape. After all, vaping at work has been linked to potential benefits such as more productivity and a happier workplace environment. Nevertheless, what about coworkers who don't vape? Will they be bothered?

Healthier Workers

The truth is that we all know that smoking kills. According to the Center for Disease Control, smoking “is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States”. The CDC also states that tobacco smoking accounts for nearly 500,000 deaths each year.

In what concerns e-cigarettes, these are regulated to ensure that they are not only safer as they have quality. Even though they are not completely risk-free, the truth is that they are safer than tobacco cigarettes.

In the UK, for example, authorities have been promoting e-cigarettes as a safer alternative to smoking. According to the Public Health England, vaping is about 85% less harmful than smoking. In a 2016 report of the UK’s Royal College of Physicians, the conclusion was similar:  "Nicotine without smoke: tobacco harm reduction."

The Smells And Overall Fears

The truth is that vaping tends to bug a lot of people. And no one is really sure about the reasons. The reality is that while vaping is quite new, there are many people who are concerned that it may harm them someway. After all, after seeing what happened with tobacco, it isn't strange they think this way.

Above all, we believe there is a lot of misinformation about e-cigarettes. In the media, for example, they tend to be seen as dangerous and harmful products. Besides, some people simply don't like the big clouds or the intense smells that vaping can produce.

While vaping has shown to be safe for vapers and non-vapers, we also need to consider that non-vapers need to have their own space to work. So, employers could try to reach a compromise: vaping yes, but only if you use a lower output device such as a pod mod system. After all, these don't produce bigger clouds and you can still feel satisfied while vaping.

Productivity

If you are a vaper and are trying to convince your boss to allow vaping at the workplace, then you need to use the productivity argument.

According to a 2014 study conducted by the Center for Economics and Business Research in the UK, smoke breaks cost British businesses around $14.5bn each year. This doesn't only lead to a decrease in productivity as it also increases healthcare costs. Then, there are always sick days because of smoking-related illnesses.

Since you can simply vape at your desk, this would vanish these smoking breaks. So, employees would see the productivity of their workers increase.

Conclusion

Ultimately, we believe that this should be something defined at each one's workplace. If both vapers and non-vapers could reach a solution and a compromise about vaping at the workplace, and if everyone complies with it, the results would appear immediately.

One of the reasons that lead many smokers to switch to vaping is related to the taste. The truth is that electronic cigarettes tend to taste a lot better. Besides, you get to choose from a wide range of menthol, dessert, and fruit juices.

In case you have been vaping for some time, you probably already noticed that the vape juice flavors may start losing its potency. Before you think this is a problem, the reality is that this is just the way it works. You just need to keep in mind that you have vaper's tongue.

What Is Vaper's Tongue?

Simply put, vaper's tongue is something that most vapers experience and there are many different reasons that may lead you to experience it.

One of the things that you need to know is that the taste of the juice isn't just what you put in your mouth. The truth is that there are more senses involved. The smell, for example, is one of them. It is just like going to a restaurant. You order your meal and you enjoy a nice steak. However, the steak doesn't only feel good because it is well-cooked. It smells well and it was served in a beautifully decorated dish.

Most people are ok with making the difference between very sweet and very salty foods. However, most of us aren't quite ready to pick up some complex flavors that can be found on e-liquids. Besides, when you subject your olfactory system to the same smell over and over again, you may start developing odor or olfactory fatigue. This means that you simply don't have the ability to distinguish a particular smell when you have been exposed to it for quite some time.

If you were a smoker and you usually smoked around your home, you probably didn't even notice the smell. However, every time you had visits, you probably had some guests complaining about how smoky your home was. This is what occurs with e-liquid as well. When you have been using it for quite some time, both your brain and nose already got used to it and the flavor seems to have faded away.

Besides vaper's tongue, you may also stop noticing the taste of the e-liquid when you have damaged smell receptors, an illness or even if you have a blocked up nose.

How To Stop Vaper's Tongue?

In case you are trying to stop vaper's tongue, here are some of the things you can try:

#1: Changing Flavors Frequently:

The easiest thing you can do to stop vaper's tongue is to keep changing your e-liquids. The truth is that the first couple puffs of a new vape juice tend to taste a lot better than the last drops of the old one you were using. This solution tends to work better when you change between tobacco and fruit juices since they are substantially different. In addition, menthol juices also work well since they can cut through your nose.

#2: Cleanse Your Palate:

Just like wine tasters need to cleanse their palate when they are trying new wines by eating some cheese, crackers, and bread between wines, you should do the same. Besides these foods, others that can help you cleanse your palate include coffee, citrus fruit, spicy food, carbonated water, and pickled foods.

  #3: Drink More Water:

One of the things that may be causing vaper's tongue is dehydration. So, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water.

We are always wondering to see where Artificial Intelligence or AI is going to appear next. After all, we have seen so many promises. And the truth is that we are already seeing it being used in places where we didn't expect and with goals even stranger.

According to experts on the area, vaping is dominating underage people in the US. Since they are not allowed to smoke, they are vaping. However, they are doing it at school, in bathrooms. As soon as some schools started noticing this pattern, the board schools decided to act. So, we are seeing more and more schools across America using Artificial Intelligence in bathrooms to catch young vapers.

While pro-vapers state that these "experts" are only making a campaign against vaping, the reality is that there are more than 200 schools across 23 American states and Canada with these devices installed.

These new AI devices detect the water vapor signatures that come from e-cigarettes, vaping pens, and other vaping devices. According to the manufacturer, the number of schools that are looking to implement a similar device is increasing each day.

The Fly Sense Device

The Fly Sense device wasn't actually designed to fight vaping. The truth is that its original goal was to detect bullying at school since it reacted to elevated sound levels. However, when parents started to show concerns about vaping, the goal was changed and it is now only dedicated to detecting young vapers.

According to the manufacturer, when the Fly Sense detects the vape cloud, it sends an alert to the school administrator in real time. So, the administrator can then take a look to see what is going on on that specific bathroom. One of the best things about this AI device is that it is constantly being updated with the latest flavors on the market.

In addition to all this, there was also a government campaign that included placing posters in 10,000 high school bathrooms across the country with the "dangers" of vaping.

While these were all seen as campaigns by pro-vapers, they ended up being right. The truth is that no matter what was said by experts and the media, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that e-cigarette use among high school students in 2017 was 11.7%. This showed a substantial drop from 16% registered in 2015. According to the same report, vaping continues to be less popular than marijuana or alcohol within teens. In what concerns smoking, it reached a new low of 7.6% in 2017.

The Use Of Ads

The use of ads against vaping was another tactic adopted. However, and according to Mike Siegel, researcher and professor at the Boston University School of Public Health, "First of all if you look at this particular campaign, they are using the typical scare tactics which we often fall back on and we know that these scare tactics really don’t work on adolescents. They are going to take a look at these messages and they’re going to dismiss them because they don’t drive with what they see. When they inhale, they don’t have worms crawl through their skins….this is not something they see in their life.”

The researcher and professor actually encourages awareness of vaping to minors but he also understands that vaping is seen as rebellious on these ages and that vaping has few health implications, especially when compared to cigarette smoking.

How to clean your Tank

by Vape King

While vaping couldn't be simpler, the truth is that there are some things that you need to know that can make your vaping experience better. One of them is deep cleaning your atomizer.

One of the things that you may not know is that when you start experiencing a funning taste when you are vaping, this may simply mean that your atomizer needs to be cleaned. Besides, not cleaning it properly on a regular basis may affect the longevity of your device.

As a rule of thumb, every time you replace your coil or change your e-liquid, you should clean your atomizer.

How To Clean Your Atomizer Tank?

When you are looking for a quick clean of your atomizer tank, you just need to complete the following steps:

Step #1: Remove the excess of e-liquid:

All you need to do is to pour it out. Instead, you can also opt to create a spinning centrifuge with a plastic bucket and a piece of string.

Step #2: Remove the coil:

After removing the excess of e-liquid, you should then remove the coil as well. Make sure that you rinse the tank out.

Step #3: Let It Air Dry:

To ensure that your cleaning actually produces the effect you want, you should allow your tank to air dry. In addition, you can also use a Q tip to clean all those stubborn spots.

Deep Cleaning Your Atomizer

When you are looking for a deeper cleaning of your atomizer to ensure that you are able to get the best experience as you are vaping, you just need to follow the next tips.

Whenever you look at your coils and they are burnt or brown, you can easily state that they won't be performing as they should. So, this means that it is time for a deeper clean.

The easiest thing you can do is to start by disassembling your atomizer. Then, just soak all the components, including the coil, for about 30 minutes. While most people tend to use warm water in this soak, the truth is that you can get better and faster results if you use other products. With this in mind, you can use:

#1: Lemon Juice:

Since lemon juice is naturally acidic, it will help you clean your coils.

#2: Vinegar:

Just like lemon juice, vinegar is also acidic. Vinegar tends to work pretty well when you have those stubborn burns and marks. Please keep in mind that you should soak your atomizer for a very long time in vinegar. The truth is that if you do, you will get into a lot of problems to remove the vinegar smell afterward.

#3: Unflavored PG:

If you are noticing a strange taste on your atomizer, using unflavored propylene glycol can mask it.

No matter the option that you choose, you will need to let all components air dry before you use it.

One of the things that you may have already read or heard is that some vapers clean their atomizers using a strong alcohol solution. In our opinion, you shouldn't do this since alcohol solutions could be dangerous to inhale and are toxic. Besides, they can even damage your atomizer if you soak it for a very long time.

In case you have tried one of the previously mentioned methods to clean your atomizer and if it still tastes funny, then you know that it is time to replace the coil.

We keep getting questions from vapers every single day. So, today, we decided to answer one that we get quite frequently: what's the ideal wattage for vaping?

The truth is that there isn't a unique answer to this question. After all, it depends on your personal tastes, your vape juice, and your hardware. While there is some science behind this, the reality is that it is a lot more about trial and error.

So, here's how you can discover the right wattage for vaping for you.

Using Variable Wattage Mods

In case you don't know, not all mods allow you to control the wattage. So, what you are looking for is a regulated mod. This regulated mod should include a chip that allows you to control different outputs.

Most of these mods allow you to adjust the voltage, the control temperature, and the wattage.

Simply put, wattage is just the power of your device. Let's say that you have a mod set at 50W. This means that it will vaporize more e-liquid than a mod at 40W or at 30W. So, as you can see, the most important thing to keep in mind about wattage is that the more output, the more the voltage the mod will draw from the battery.

But this isn't the only way you have to control the output. The alternative is to change the resistance of your setup which means changing the atomizer.

When you are buying a box mod, you can usually buy different coils with different resistances as well. This way, when you attach a new atomizer, it will either determine the resistance for you or you may be required to do this by yourself.

Choosing Your Wattage

#1: Look At The Coils:

This is probably the easiest way to get the perfect wattage for you. The truth is that when you are getting a new atomizer, most tell you the resistance of a coil as they also usually state the wattage range that you should use with the coil. So, you just need to look at the coil itself or at its box.

#2: Look At The Hit:

One of the most important things for vapers is, without any question, getting a good hit. But this varies a lot from person to person. You may be the kind of vaper who loves huge puffy clouds of vapor or you may just prefer the casual puff. If you belong to the first group of vapers, you should definitely turn up your wattage. Another important factor to keep in mind is the temperature. Again, there are vapers who like to feel the warm vapor on their throat and others don't.

Just remember that there is no right or wrong answer here. It is totally up to you and your personal preferences and tastes.

#3: Try Out Different Flavors:

One of the things that you may not know is that e-liquids taste differently depending on the wattage. So, when you are adjusting your wattage, you may actually find a new flavor that you like.

As a rule of thumb, more complex flavors such as tobacco, coffee, and desserts juices tend to be better at higher wattages, more delicate flavors such as fruit are usually better at lower wattages.

The Truth about Popcorn lung

26/04/2019
by Vape King

Here's the truth about popcorn lung. Let me break it down for you. Let's share this. Popcorn lung is a very serious lung disease with multiple causes, one being from a chemical known as Diacetyl. Diacetyl is the chemical component that causes popcorn lung, yes. It is an artificial butter flavor. Yes, there is Diacetyl in a ton of e-liquid.

So yes, e-liquid contains a chemical that causes popcorn lung. However... There have only been 6 cases of popcorn lung in the history of the planet. All six people worked full time at a popcorn manufacturing plant. They worked 8 hour days 5 days a week for 15 years before they inhaled enough micro grams of Diacetyl to develop popcorn lung.

About a year ago 99% of e-liquid on the market was tested for Diacetyl. The most potent juice, having the most Diacetyl, was, lets just call them 'Brand X'. Even though 'Brand X' had a relatively high Diacetyl content in comparison to the rest of the market, here is the fun part... you would have to vape 60mls, aka 2oz, aka a TON (almost impossible amount, the average is 2-20ml a day) of their liquid, EVERYDAY for 1.5 MILLION YEARS, in order to accumulate the amount of micro grams of Diacetyl it takes to develop popcorn lung. It is literally impossible.

A simple cigarette, one single cigarette contains 750xs the amount of Diacetyl that there is in a full bottle of 'Brand X', and no one has ever gotten popcorn lung from cigarettes. Lets compare... National average smoker, 1 pack a day, 20 cigarettes. 750 x 20 = 15,000 If a full bottle last three days... 15,000 x 3 Based on averages, smoking cigarettes contain 45,000xs more Diacetyl than vaping. So yeah, vaping can cause popcorn lung. You'd just had to vape every second of every day for 1.5 MILLION years. Numbers simply do not lie

My Vape Leaks!?

11/04/2019
by Vape King

Not everything about vaping is good. The truth is that if you are vaping for some time, you probably already had your share of unpleasant surprises. And today, we want to tell you about one that tends to irritate vapers a lot - the vape leaks.

The first thing that we need to say is to calm down. Yes, you just have a mess within your hands (literally). But it is important that you understand that leaking is common.

One of the things that you should keep in mind is that this is rarely related to your device. In most cases, it tends to be related to something that you're doing or not doing as you should.

So, here are some tips to help you determine why your vape is leaking and what you can do to solve the problem.

#1: Keep Your Tank Always Clean:

When you vape, it is important that you take care of the maintenance of your vaping device. The truth is that this largely affects the performance and longevity.

When you don't clean your tank regularly, the vape juice will tend to accumulate in your vape tank. This may be the cause of the leak.

#2: Check Your Coils:

This is probably the most common problem to vape leaks. One of the things that you can do to prevent this from happening is to only use the right coils for your device. In addition, you should keep in mind that coils wear out and there may be a time when you need to replace them.

In case you have been using the same coils for several weeks or more, try to change them for new ones. This simple procedure usually stops the vape leaking.

#3: Hold Your Mod Vertically:

In case you are vaping to help you quit smoking, you probably still don't have the habit of holding your mod in the vertical position. However, this is the right way to do it.

To determine if this is the cause of leaking, you just need to try out vaping in different positions to see if you notice the tak leaking more in some positions than on others. If you note this difference, clean your tank and just vape holding your mod always in the vertical position.

#4: Fill Your Tank The Right Way:

In case you just filled your tank, this may be the reason why it is leaking. You may have added too much vape juice.

#5: Look For Cracks:

Most vape tanks are made to last, The truth is that the best ones are made with pyrex glass which is pretty strong. However, accidents happen and you may have a crack or two on your tank.

Make sure that examine your tank closely when you're looking for cracks. Some are incredibly small and you wouldn't have noticed them if the tank didn't start leaking.

#6: Check The Seals:

It is normal that you clean your tank and your vape device from time to time. However, sometimes, you may have some parts loose and they may be causing the tank leak. So, verify that all the parts of your vaping device are well screwed and secured tightly enough.

Is It Ok To Vape Indoors?

11/04/2019
by Vape King

With more and more vapers all around the world, governments are questioning the consequences of indoors vaping. The truth is that just like some countries already banned tobacco cigarette smokers from smoking inside public spaces because this could heart non.smokers, should the same be applied to vapers?

One recent study was conducted to see what happened to the vaping clouds and if they could affect non-vapers when indoors.

The truth is that according to this study, a vaping cloud can easily dissipate in just a few seconds. On the other hand, cigarettes clouds can take up to 45 minutes. This is a huge difference. Nevertheless, non-vapers are still worried about the effects that vaping clouds can have on them, even though they dissipate so quickly. So, the researchers of this same study also asked this question. According to them, and looking at the worst case scenario that would be an indoor space without any ventilation, they were able to find particle counts quickly returned to background levels in trials with commercially available vapes.

A new study was later made about the same topic. This study was a part of partnership or collaboration between Fontem Ventures, ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, and Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania. The truth is that in what concerns the cloud dissipation, the conclusion was very similar. But in what concerns the particles, the researchers of this last study reached a different conclusion.

When you were indoors and without any ventilation, researchers were able to find particle concentrations in the air that were increased at every puff. However, this was observed in tobacco, not vaping. According to the researchers of this new study, there shouldn't be any quality issue when you vape indoors.

According to Dr. Grant O'Connell, the Corporate Affairs Manager at Fontem Ventures, “No accumulation of particles was registered in the room following subjects’ vaping. This shows us how fundamentally different exhaled e-vapor particles are compared to those released when smoking conventional cigarettes, the latter of which linger in the air for longer periods of time.”

Right after the vaping participants exhales, researchers looked for particle concentrations. According to them, these were at the same level of traditional cigarettes. However, here is a huge difference between the two. According to Dr. O'Connell, “Exhaled e-vapour aerosol particles have a different chemical composition to a cigarette smoke and here we show the physical properties are also significantly different. This data adds to the growing body of evidence that vaping indoors is unlikely to pose an air quality issue.”

Interestingly enough, this study was published and the results expressed just a couple of weeks after another United States city banned indoor vaping - Milwaukee. This was just another United States city to adhere to the growing number of cities that are trying to add the same rules of regular tobacco to vaping. This can lead to expensive fines that according to this new study, aren't justifiable.

Does Vape Juice Expire?

11/04/2019
by Vape King

Just like foods and drinks that you buy, vape juices also come with an expiration date. So, what happens if you have a lot of vape juice spread all over your place which already expired?

The Expiration Date On Vape Juice

In case you haven't noticed, most of your vape juice includes an expiration date printed on the bottle. While manufacturers aren't required by law to do so, they still include the expiration date on each bottle. Besides, most manufacturers tend to comply with the Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) guidelines.

According to the FSIS, an expiration date should be seen as an indicator of the quality if the product and not as an indicator of safety.

One of the things that make the difference between vape juice and other foods is that vape juice is shelf-stable. This means that vape juice is far less likely to react. So, this ensures that it tends to last longer.

How Much Time Can Vape Juice Hold Its Qualities?

As we already mentioned above, vape juice tends to last for a very long time. However, the shelf life varies from vape juice to vape juice as well as it varies depending on how you store it.

As a rule of thumb, vape juice usually lasts between one or two years when you store it the right way. Besides, the expiration date should be seen as an estimative of how much time the vape juice will last under normal conditions. However, you also need to understand that the quality of the vape juice won't be the same as time passes.

Some of the things that affect you vape juice if it stands too much time on the shelf include:

- the nicotine potency will decrease

- the quality of the vape juice will decrease

- the flavor may fade quicker

- the mouth-feel and texture may be different.

Nevertheless, this doesn't mean that you can't use your vape juice.

Another factor that you need to pay attention to is to where yo store your vape juice. The reality is that if you expose it to the direct sunlight or extreme heat, it won't last for so much time.
